Safety information
Loud on the outside. Serious on the inside.
Balanced information belongs beside every treatment option. Read this before your visit. Your clinician and the pharmacy give you the instructions that match the exact strength you are prescribed.
Tadalafil safety context
Common side effects are headache, flushing, indigestion, back or muscle pain, and a stuffy nose. They are usually mild and pass on their own.
Serious but uncommon: an erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism), sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes, and sudden loss or decrease of hearing. Stop the medicine and get emergency care.
Who should not take it
- Anyone taking nitrates (such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide) in any form, or riociguat. The combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
- Men with heart disease serious enough that a clinician has advised against sex.
- Women, and anyone under 18.
Tell your clinician if you take an alpha blocker or any blood-pressure medicine, if you drink heavily, or if you eat a lot of grapefruit. Share every prescription, supplement, and recreational substance; your clinician checks each one.
Before treatment
- Tell the clinician about all medications and supplements.
- Share allergies, reactions, conditions, and prior treatments.
- Ask about evidence, uncertainty, risks, and alternatives.
- Confirm the dispensing pharmacy and its contact information.
- Understand how to take it, how often, and when to follow up.
